Windows 10: When installing windows 11 it does not see my SSD in the m.2 slot.

I’m trying to install windows 11 on my desktop and it a new build but run into the issue of it not seeing my ssd in the m.2 slot. Bios is in UEFI MODE, secure boot is off and all part of the pc have been verified good through testing of individual components. I don’t understand why it didn’t show up on this computer but when it is plugged into my other currently running pc the drive is seen and I have even installed windows on the drive and set up windows. This is not the case in the new pc. I can’t get windows to see the nvme ssd in the m.2 slot although the bios does see it. Doing the disk p

How to migrate OS from M.2 SSD to larger M.2 SSD - but only have one M.2 SSD slot.

Hi community,

I currently have my Windows 11 Home OS (Dell digital license) installed on my single M.2 NVMe SSD slot (256GB 2242 BC711_NVMe_SK_hynix).

I am now running out of room to install other applications and so I purchased a new Crucial 2TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (fully compatible) to swap it out.

The problem I am hoping someone can help me with is, in order of preference:

1 - Is it possible to clone my current Windows 11 Home OS install from my current M.2 to my new M.2 and how best to go about it?

I would like to keep all my currently installed applications and preferences if possible. For personal files, documents, pictures, videos, spreadsheets, etc. - I can save all of these separately.

2 - If (1) is not possible, what is the best way to do a clean install of Windows 11 Home on my existing Dell system, without invalidating my digital license and how best to ensure I have all the Dell drivers necessary for a reinstall?

In other words, making it seem like a new Dell system with Windows 11 Home installed on a 2TB M.2 NVMe instead. Some Dell apps are useful.

Pretty sure the above is not 100% clear but I did my best to try and explain. Please let me know of any missing details required for an answer.

SATA SSD and M.2 SSD

i was with a ssd sata and now i have ssd m.2, i formatted and put windows 11 in m.2, but i did not remove the ssd sata, i can only boot windows with the ssd sata connected, if i remove it windows does not boot to m.2



obs: windows was installed on m.2 but the ssd sata was still connected, but windows was 100% installed on m.2, is there any way I can set m.2 as primary? (when i removed the ssd sata it did not recognize windows)

Replace HDD w/SSD, or add SSD (M.2) to extra slot?
