Windows 10: When I've logged into the media file is that it's coming out with the caption "Working on it"

Windows Media Player 12 no longer displays SMIL captions

Hi,

I am running Windows Version 1703 (OS Build 15063.138) and the Windows Media Player app ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe", Version: 12.0.15063.0). WMP no longer displays my external caption files (*.SMI). Previous Win10 WMP versions
worked fine with external SMI caption files. I have not changed the media content or caption files. The only changes are system updates. The options to "Show local captions when present" check box in both Options and Security tab areas are selected and I toggled
the selections several times to see if perhaps it was a corrupt setting issue. Now, I am beginning to question if the current WMP app (Version: 12.0.15063.0) still supports SMIL captions.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue or troubleshooting steps to capture WMP captioning feature log details?

P.S. I am well aware of Universal Windows app called Video Application (Video.UI.exe) that is also part of Windows 10. VA supports the SRT external caption files. I prefer the WMP app.

 

No closed captioning in Windows 10 Media Player wtv files

I purchased an HP Envy with Windows 10 on August 5, 2015. After a number of weeks of updates it now displays wtv files in Windows Media Player that comes with Windows 10. However, I cannot get it to display closed captioning, even after setting Windows
Media Player Security to "Show local captions when present" and "Lyrics, captions and subtitles" to "On if available". Is there anything else to try or is the functionality just not there?

 

Saves log files ?

You can either read the files in Windows or my preferred method is.....

Download CCcleaner from here...........

You can then run cleaner, you will see the log files listed, then if you right click you can save as a text file and then have a read. You may also get an "error reporting" log listed seperatly.
