Windows 10: when playing music with lid closed it stops after 10 minutes

If i leave my laptop running with music playing, then after 10 mins it all turns off and no sound is heard until i reuse the keyboard, plugged in to power at the time?


Battery settings etc are all set as 30 mins of battery and 1 hour on power. is there a particular setting for this that i am not using??

On my Windows 10 64-bit machine, the "when I close the lid" settings is set to:

-On battery: Do nothing

-Plugged in: Do nothing

Yet after I closed the lid and open it again, I still need to press the power button just to turn the screen on. Why is it like that?

I made a custom plan and set everything to "never" but still nothing.

I play a music while lid is close and after 2 minutes it stops as well as the power light.

• Have you connected the external monitor to the Laptop?
• Did you make any recent changes prior to the issue?
• Are you facing this issue specifically when playing the specific Game?
• Are you facing this issue after any recent updates installed?

This issue might have caused due to the power settings for the closing of LID is set to sleep mode.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Press Windows + X keys and select the Control Panel.
• Select Power options by searching in search box.
• Right side select Change Plan setting next to the power plans.
• Select the Change advanced Power plan settings.
• Under the list select and expand Power buttons and lid.
• Select Turn off the display under the drop down of setting.
• Click Apply. Ok.
• Close the LID and Check if the issue resolves.

How long have you had this Asus ROG? Has it ever turned off the screen when the lid is closed?

The last post in this thread suggests it may be a hardware problem, the section starting 'Here's an interesting story about the GL502VS in general' describes a sequence of replacements from Asus, one of which behaved this way. Oddly, the OP actually wanted this behaviour.
