  1. When third monitor turns on audio goes haywire

I have Windows 11. I have a 3 monitor system, with an external surround sound audio system. I only use the third monitor every once in a while, so it is normally off and I usually only have 2 monitors hooked to my audio system. The third monitor is a tv.But whenever I turn my third monitor on, the audio is switched to its audio and my surround sound system disappears from the available audio devices. How do I keep this from happening and have all my monitors running through the surround sound system?

    :)

  2. How To Change Monitor Audio To Motherboard Audio

    Hi Saurav,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to get clarity on this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    1. Do you want to use your external speakers for the audio instead of the monitor speakers?
    2. Are you hearing the audio both from your external speakers and the monitor speakers?

Meanwhile, you may try the below steps to change the playback device and check if this helps.

    1. Select on the Start button > Type Sound in the search box > Select
Sound from the list of results.
    2. Go to Playback tab > Select your Sound System Device that you want to hear the audio from > Then click on
      Set Default.
    3. Restart the computer once and check if this helps.

  3. My Monitor frequently goes black for 15 -20 secs and auto turns back on.

    Hello Faseeh Zaman

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

The issue with your monitor going black and the "device plugged in/out" sound could be related to several factors, including cable issues, power supply problems, or hardware malfunctions. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Cables and Ports:
      1. Ensure that the DisplayPort cable is properly connected and secure at both ends (monitor and computer).
      2. Try using a different DisplayPort cable to see if the issue persists, as the current cable might be faulty.
      3. Check if the problem occurs with HDMI again, to isolate whether it's related to the DisplayPort specifically.
    2. Monitor and Graphics Card Settings:
      1. Review the monitor's settings to ensure they are correctly configured for DisplayPort input.
      2. Check the NVIDIA Control Panel settings to make sure the correct monitor is selected and the display settings are appropriate for your monitor’s resolution and refresh rate.
    3. Power Supply and Electrical Interference:
      1. Ensure that the monitor and computer are connected to a stable power source. If possible, try connecting them to a different power outlet or use a surge protector.
      2. Check for any electrical interference from other devices that might be causing the monitor to lose connection temporarily.
    4. Update and Reinstall Drivers:
      1. Although you've updated the drivers, it might be worth checking for specific DisplayPort firmware updates for your graphics card or monitor.
      2. Try reinstalling the graphics card drivers completely. Use the Display Driver Uninstaller tool to remove the current drivers and then install the latest version from the NVIDIA website.
    5. Hardware Troubleshooting:
      1. Test the monitor with another computer or a different monitor with your computer to determine if the issue lies with the monitor or the PC.
      2. Inspect the graphics card and motherboard for any visible signs of damage or loose connections.
    6. Check System Logs:

Look into Windows Event Viewer for any warnings or errors that coincide with the times the monitor goes black. This might give clues to whether it’s a hardware issue, driver problem, or something else.
Since you've already tried reinstalling Windows, it suggests the issue might be more hardware-related, particularly since it occurs more frequently with DisplayPort. If the problem continues after these troubleshooting steps, it might be necessary to consider professional repair or contacting ASUS support for further assistance.

If there is anything not clear or I can't understand your problem, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards
