When trying to activate you get 0xC004F074 with description "The Key Management Server KMS is unavailable"

I have been running windows 10 pro for 4 years with an active license. It is telling me I have to activate

i'm using a custom kms server and everytime I try to activate it gives me an error (0xC004F074) although the server is working fine on other machines

The error that you're getting is caused if there is a support mismatch between the Key Management Server client and the Key Management Server host machine. To help you resolve this, follow
