Windows 10: When trying to install game it displays error message but file type for game is not showing...

To elaborate more on the question since i ran out of characters I am trying to install a game but that error message comes up. The file type for the game is .url but when I go to the default apps to associate an app with that file type the file type isnt even there even though I have multiple programs that use it like FIFA. The error that comes up is "This file does not have an app associated with it to perform this action. Please install an app or if one is already installed create an association in the Default Apps Settings page."

Step 1:

I suggest you to right click on the game and try to run as administrator and check.

Step 2: if that doesn't help I suggest you to install game in compatibility mode and check:

Follow the steps below on how to install game in compatibility mode:

1. Download the game from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

2. Right click on the setup file of the game and select “Properties”.

3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

5. Let the game install and then check the functionality.

• Expand one of the categories to find the name of your display adapter, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select Update Driver. For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right-click your graphics
  card and select Update Driver.
• Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
• If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver:

• Open the Device Manager.
• Right-click (or tap and hold) the name of the display adapter.
• Select Uninstall.
• Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

You may also run the game in compatibility mode to make it work on your Windows 10 PC by following the steps below:

• Go to the game folder and right click on the setup file.
  
• Click on Properties and go to the Compatibility tab.
  
• Under the Compatibility mode, check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select the operating system where the game is compatible.
  
• Let the drivers install and launch the game again

Unable to install a game on Windows 10.
