Windows 10: when trying to use a cd/dvd external player with windows 11 I get VLC is unable to open...

First of all only the device manager sees the drive as a DVD drive and not a CD/DVD drive. Second the drive is not visibile in the file explorer. So anyway i tried to installed VLC and when I try to find the audio cd player get that error. I have not yet tried a DVD. But whatis the deal with Windows 11 it doesn't matter what cd/dvd drive I use nothing ever works. Even the mircosoft ppl spent two hours on remotely and couldn't fix it. WHY OHWHY???

Windows 10 will not recognize my CD/DVD player/burner Any ideas what to do?

It happens to any cd or dvd put in the player. including installation software disc for a new printer I purchased. The VLC player shows a disc player as drive G: but when I try to open the disc I get this message. :
File reading failed:
VLC could not open the file "G:\" (Bad file descriptor).

Your input can't be opened:

VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///G:/'. Check the log for details.

Windows media player does not list a cd/dvd player.

In control panel- devices and printers it shows a cd/dvd player but it is not the player that I have it is one that windows automatically installs when I delete the player and then restart the machind.

 

CD/DVD Player/Burner Not working after Win10 Installation

How can I fix the cd/dvd player burner in my HP laptop ? Since installation of Windows 10 (was using Win7), the player will not work. any suggestions ? My understanding is that this is a very common problem with Win10 because there is no player for the cd
dvd now. I tried a suggestion to install a media player "VLC" but it still won't work, I just keep getting an Error message window when I hit play. The error message is "Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'cdda:///G:/' ".

Any suggestions ???
