Windows 10: When trying to verify get "An illegal state change was requested"

When trying to verify through account settings on my PC I get "An illegal state change was requested" The error says: Windows Security, We couldn't sign you in, my user name, my email and "An illegal state change was requested"I updated to Windows 11 no help. My internet access is working fine. I have restarted my device. I can access my microsoft account on the web on the same device. I have tried resetting my password and that didn't work. I have no needed updates. How do I make this error go away?

I basically have the same question as here. I have reset the password. Added information to my Microsoft account. I receive the "Illegal State was requested" when verifying my account in "your info".

I'll also point out there are a number of people asking this. This issue is preventing me from changing the email on my computer to the more current one.

 

Verify Info - An illegal state change was requested

I'm trying to verify my account from my Account Information but every time I type my password in I get the message "An illegal state change was requested." No idea what this is supposed to mean but I can't do much of anything on my computer when it comes
to my account - not even change my profile picture.

Every time I put in my password (when it asks) it just reloads the same screen and asks for my password again.

The entire Microsoft Account experience has been EXTREMELY frustrating - not much of anything works correctly in terms of the Microsoft Account. I've tried creating a new account, changing passwords, etc. but it's a never ending circle of requested passwords
with nothing getting me any closer to resolution.

Any help to resolve this issue would be appreciated

 

Illegal state change request???

When I tried to sign in I was told, We are unable to sign you in. An illegal state change was requested? What does that mean? I did not ask for any change!
