    When using the latest version of the Microsoft Japanese IME within some applications, the app doesn’t return the selected conversion candidate to the top when I press the “down arrow” key or the spacebar.

    Can't switch candidates for Japanese Microsoft IME

    As indicated in the question I can't switch input candidates on the Japanese Microsoft IME. This is a problem I have seen many other people have and it is a bug that has existed for about 4 years (I'm very disappointed that Microsoft still hasn't fixed it)

    Basically the IME is stuck on Half-width Alphanumeric for the input candidate even if you use the shortcut to change between the candidates. The only workaround I know of is by selecting Half-width Alphanumeric by right-clicking the A in the toolbar and
    then selecting Hiragana but it still reverts back to Half-width Alphanumeric when you switch language or use the shortcut.

    I got this bug about a week ago and it just came out of nowhere. I have been using the Japanese Microsoft IME for about 2 years and have never experienced this bug until now.

    Does anyone have any ideas about a more permanent workaround since Microsoft doesn't seem to care?

    I haven't tried a factory reset but I would rather not do that.
