Windows 10: When will microsoft fix the file rename to uppercase bug!

Renaming files to uppercase in Windows 1 on NTFS simply doesn't work when you just replace the lowercase letters to uppercase.It does work however if you do a 2 step process. If you add 1 character to the file, the filename will rename to uppercase. And then you need to delete this character. How is it possible that such still is in Windows explorer as a bug after so long ...These are daily annoyances that Microsoft should have fixed by now, after years of developing windows explorer.Can somebody please ask Microsoft development team to have a thorough look at this?I don't need a reply with th

Bug in renaming a file on exFAT

There's a bug in renaming files on exFAT filesystems.

When renaming a file only changing letters to capital letters, after submitting the new name it doesn't actually change the filename at all. So this is a silent fail (and that's really bad). Only when adding or removing letters, it successfully submits the
new name.

So this rename won't work:

flowers.mp4 -> Flowers.mp4

After hitting enter, it'll instantly change back to its old name.

This rename won't work either:

FLOWERS.mp4 -> Flowers.mp4

Again, after hitting enter, it'll instantly change back to its old name.

I don't understand why this is, because the F is a different character than
f.

Just as き is different from キ as well, and this change does get successfully applied in a rename. Even though they too, are phonetically identical, just like our lowercase & uppercase letters.

This bug exists only on exFAT formatted disks. NTFS doesn't suffer from this bug. What type of disk it is, makes no difference. This is a pure software problem.

Please have this bug fixed, MS devs. I do hope you're reading along.

*) Please be advised, the feedback app doesn't work for me. It requires a stupid switch to be turned on, which will compromise privacy. So long as the feedback app isn't just a damn website, I can't use it.

 

Microsoft Fixes Bug in Windows Live File-sharing Service

Microsoft confirmed it has fixed a bug in its online file storage and sharing service Windows Live FolderShare after users reported problems that the service was deleting files without user authorization. Microsoft sent an e-mail to users Friday alerting them that it has fixed a bug that may have "accidentally moved" user files from their original folders into the FolderShare Trash folder, and that users should not delete files in Trash until they ensure they were meant to be deleted. It also advised users how to retrieve deleted files from the Trash folder. A copy of the information sent to users has been posted on the FolderShare Web site.

I'm not surprised that Microsoft fixed the bug so quickly...but accidentally moving foldders into the trash...wow that aight right...
