Seriously, why don't updates from Microsoft actually work?


There's something seriously wrong with the updates, and with Microsoft development and testing. I've spent so much time this year dealing with this nonsense.


It's tried to update about 100 times. Around try 96 it caused my machine to go into an infinite loop of booting and undoing, until I had to have a new version of Windows installed. Now I have more failed updates....again.


I have 3 occurrences of 0x8007001f, preceded by one occurrence of 0x80070643. Don't tell me it's the antivirus software.....when you upgrade, you have total permissions to do whatever you need, so that's a terrible excuse, Microsoft.


I heard from a MS guy that the error codes overlap between professional and home....this is professional (supposedly).


Is Microsoft actually doing anything to resolve these issues? Clearly not.


I guess since updates for my version will no longer come, then I'll just keep running the version Microsoft is incapable of updating.

Windows 10 Update

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.

 

Windows Feature Update 1903

Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. The steps which you have undertaken to block updates won't work for any feature update. Feature updates need to be blocked temporarily by using different steps.

But, I will suggest that you should not try to stop 1903 feature update. Let it happen.
