When will we finally see a method to pull off-screen windows back?

Ggrrrr! This is such an infuriating bug in Windows!

Frequently switching between a big external monitor and the small laptop screen I regularly run into the situation that an application opens its window off-screen. Why is there no OS built-in option or command to force all these windows back to the visible screen portion? There is a "Cascade windows" and a "Show windows stacked" menu entry on the taskbar but for some idiotic reason these commands ignore off-screen windows.

Then I always need to dig out my cheat sheet on how to pull such a window back to the visible screen:

    1. Alt-Tab until the invisible Window is selected
    2. Alt-Space
    3. R
    4. Alt-Space
    5. M
    6. press any Arrow-Key
    7. Move Mouse - now the window follows the mouse.

*Rolleyes Isn't it hilarious that one has to do such rain dances just to bring back a window to visibility?
This is such a superfluous nuisance!!! MS - wake up and fix this!

    :)

Installing Windows Vista/7 Via flash drive (Mussels Method)

Thread updated with a newer method that allows multiple windows OS's on the one USB. nice little windows GUI, but a few more steps than the old method.

    This method supports XP.

  3. Setting the default input method for the Windows 10 login screen

The accepted solution from user Ender might not work because it lacks a final step.

As the answer from user Alexander Davidenko states, there is another option that will automatically revert the changes you just made if you only follow Ender's answer.

    To counter this automatic reversion:

    1. Do every step from Ender's solution (8 steps)
    2. Type Windows key + R to open the "Run" window.
    3. Input "gpedit.msc" and hit enter to open "Local Group Policy Editor".
    4. In the left tree view, select Local Group Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates
    5. On the right pane, open System > Local Services
    6. Modify the setting "Disallow copying of user input methods to the system account for sign-in" to Enabled.

You should finally be able to use your current keyboard layout as a default input method in the Welcome screen!

Problem with final version of windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community. Your interest in Windows 10 is much appreciated.

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to unplug the mouse wire from USB port and re plugin it and check if the issue persists.

Method 2: I suggest you to run the hardware troubleshooter as below and check if it helps.

    • Type in search bar as control panel.
    • Then select troubleshooting.
    • Click on hardware and sound option.
    • Then click on “hardware and devices “and follow the on screen instructions.
NOTE: Perform all this steps using keyboard.

Method 3: If still the issue persists then I suggest you to update the mouse drivers from the manufactures website and check.
