  2. How can I restore my computer - following installation of Windows 10 it is fried!

For over 15 years in my experience, people have been complaining about when they install something new then it breaks and so they blame Microsoft and not their antivirus, which caused the break to begin with. I don't know what your circumstances are, but
I would seriously expect that having antivirus enabled while installing new software results in incomplete and corrupt software that doesn't work correctly. Many people do not have such problems and they did not install with their antivirus active. So you
can blame Microsoft for not working with your antivirus software rather than the other way around if you want.

    Windows 10 and bugs

don't you love when people in this community try to blame the users computers

because windows 10 is not working ?

    Microsoft is just like McDonalds

who always put the blame on their customers

instead admit that their products SUCKSSSSSSSS

that is the real reason to why the people doesn't buy it anymore

just stay away from windows 10

you have a good gaming rig

do not infected it with a bugged & spyware operating system

    and don't worry about 2020

because SteamOS it will be better by then

so you can play your games without need to deal with microsoft (finally)

  4. When Windows 10 breaks, don't just blame Microsoft

Just found a link to this on Face Book
Read it all on the link that was posted which is same as yours
Hopefully now Microsoft wont get the blame for everything that goes wrong
I always read through 2-3 times before I even think about installing any apps or extra's
That way you don't end up having problems

They offered the o/s. I believed them. I spent money (talking about mobile here). If it is full of bugs (which it is) - THEY can fix it not me.
    It rests with them

  6. Rofl, they picked a nice story, they should pick something more related, when 10 is persuading users to install or:
10 downloaded without my consent, when I wanted to revert back, it said, it had already deleted previous Windows.
MS policy: blame the user, blame the user, blame the software, blame the hardware, well maybe it is our fault after all.

When it comes to laptops, all bets are off...*Wink The OP got lucky and I'm glad for him! Desktops are far more reliable/predictible, but it is possible to buy even desktops today with wonky custom devices requiring custom drivers which the OEM decides to supply once and only once (and not for Windows 10.) Best option: build your own desktop--handpick each component according to tier 1 companies with great driver-support track records. Win10 is a snap on such systems.

If you know nothing about building your own desktop--retired and at home these days I use nothing but my own desktop as I have a zero need to be mobile any longer--you might want to start here: Pick Parts, Build Your PC, Compare and Share - PCPartPicker

I don't agree with some of the suggestions, but it's a great place to start if you don't know what you are doing but have the desire to learn.

Agree! Then if a Windows update comes along and breaks something, you know exactly where to place the blame. *Wink

  12. I think it's a two way street, MS are in no way blameless. Even my desktop which I got a few months back and came with Windows 10 pre installed / clean I encounter some annoyances. I think it's the modern apps which are most prone to causing grief, at least in my experience. But I know a lot of people with machines (predominant Windows 7) which are in a horrible state. Either through malware or what I see is many people don't realise or appreciate auto updates are on, they go to turn off and the machine starts running through the updates - they don't want to leave it on or wait so they will force power it off. And I reckon that causes lots of problems. The machine isn't really in a fit state to move onto the next OS upgrade. Unfortunately most people don't want to be bothered with all the endless updates - it's not just Windows, when you factor in flash, gpu drivers, other hardware drivers, then you have phones like iOS pushing out updates every time the wind changes and it gets very tiresome. But interruption of auto updates has the potential to hose many machines. But like I say people don't want to wait for them, especially if MS servers are having an off night and the update sits their waiting for hours (Windows 7 patch Tuesday like this a lot in recent months). Personally I always worry that I'll set my machine to shut down when something is trying to update in the background but is transparent to me, eg, office 365 in midst of updating itself and I'll turn it on next day and find office not working because of it. That's just an example, fortunately it's never happened.

  14. On my last clean re-install, I deliberately un installed ALL other software before doing the clean install.

I then have progressively put back ONLY the sw I use on a daily basis. I eliminated anything and everything that claimed to be a "Windows Enhancement", reasoning that all of them were probably not fully compatible with WIN 10 anyway.

So right now, I have win 10 Pro (Vanilla), with no 3rd party OS enhancement stuff installed , Office 2007, and some network analysis sw re-installed IF the sw had a WIN 10 compatible version only.

I am convinced this has contributed to the reliability and stability I now experience with WIN 10 Pro.

    Hi there
If a piece of equipment (could be hardware / could be software) fails then there could be basically 3 possible causes :

    1) Equipment was faulty in the first place
    2) User Misuse
    3) combination of both.

Having been a LONG time user of Windows - I can probably say that for over 90% of windows users the OS works just fine.
There will always be some defects in things as complicated as an OS but in day to day use it won;t normally matter,
Often people try and do things that the original OS was never expected to do - and in this case I can't see what the beef is if it doesn't work -- but again Windows has been remarkably resilient considering what everything has been thrown at it.

Usually Ms is remarkably co-operative with both hardware and software manufactureres if the OS fails -- OK defects take time to fix but usually it all gets sorted in the end,

Misuse -- and allowing either deliberately or by accident - viruses and malware to ruin your system can't usually be seen as a fault by Ms who actually takes security and the integrity of the OS quite seriously.

My only beef with Windows on the whole is that Networking is still a matter of pure LUCK if it works 100% - but apart from that I can't really complain.

If I get malware from some dubious torrent site that's hardly the fault of Ms.

If I drive say a nice BMW hard against a brick wall can I complain that BMW is making unsafe cars !!!,

    Cheers
