Windows 10: Whenever I have my headphones connected my sound settings stop working properly

Whenever I connected my bluetooth headphones to my laptop my sound settings stop working properly, it'll take 10 seconds to open up the little speaker icon in my task bar and when i try to open the sound settings the settings app just stops working! It freezes!! It ONLY happens when I have my headphones connected. I also for a bit couldnt use my laptops microphone while i had the headphones connected! This has been really frustrating I would really like to fix this as soon as i can. The headphones worked fine for a little over a month
