Windows 10: Whenever I use anything to record desktop audio, the quality is worse when I play it back.

I've tried using Xbox Game Bar, OBS Studio, Audacity, etc. and I always encounter this problem with the sound quality.

I tried updating the drivers for my sound controllers, NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) and Realtek Audio, but that didn't do anything.

Is there any way to fix this?

Edit: The only time this isn't a problem is when I set the Game Bar to record audio for games only, but that means I can't record audio for anything else.

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Quality audio recorder

Are there Nokia phones that come with a good quality sound recorder incorporated?



Currently I have a Nokia 3310 ExpressMusic, and I'm using its recorder for voice recording. However, the recording quality is quite poor. The codec used is AMR, which is probably the worst quality codec available for audio. I have just checked the new Lumia
900, and it turns out that it also uses AMR. So I wonder if I can get a better audio quality buying a new Nokia or I should rather buy a proper audio recorder instead.

 

Progressively Worse Audio Quality (Crackling)


Hello. Hoping someone can help me. Since upgrading my Windows 7 to Windows 10, I've had audio problems. At first the audio quality was terrible (hissing, crackling) so I uninstalled and reinstalled my NVIDIA drivers. This fixed the problem but now I find that the audio quality gets worse over time. Once I reboot it goes back to pristine quality and that lasts a day or two but slowly the quality gets worse with more crackling. It's very annoying.

Any idea what's going on? Is it somehow tied to my RAM or some kind of cache that builds up over time?

I'm a noob so bear with me!
