Windows 10: Where are my old files if they are not in Windows.old

tech supt told me to custom reinstall after the blackscreen update circus. i didn't know about using notepad.exe to back up files and get behind the black screen at that point. you can also use windows key + left arrow to try and increase brightness, fixed the error for some. but i stupidly listened to tech supt instead of continuing research and now the custom reinstall of win10 did NOT move MOST OF my user files...only some. like what?! so I shut down the machine to try and preserve the old files not moved - now presumably marked for delete by the install but not yet physically deleted hello FBI sleuths so it may still be there if not overwritten.


Where are the physical files that windows.old did not or could not move. How on earth is this process SO UNRELIABLE?! DOZENS of complaints about the custom install just blowing away our files without benefit of a warning screen to stop due to the error. There should be an on purpose proceed to blow away my files that wont or cannot be moved into windows.old. This process right now is just amateur


rant over. where are my original user data files that did not get processed into windows.old? i'm on win10 God help me.

old email addresses

Here is the step to remove that old email address.

Start typing an email address into the “To” field. As soon as you see the old email address being recommended as one of the potential candidates, use the down arrow key to scroll through the list of suggestions. Once you highlight the old email address, type
the delete key. In many cases, this will actually remove the entry not only from the current list of suggestions but from future suggestions as well. You may even find that as you mouse over the drop-down list the highlighted item will have an “x” to explicitly
allow you to delete it.

Just do this step and your good to go.

Old picture files

Hi Carolyn,

Based on the description you provided, we need to determine why all your old pictures disappeared after replacing your printer to a new one. With that said, kindly answer the following questions:

• What steps have you tried so far to recover your old pictures?
• Did you use an application to save your scanned photos from your previous printer?
• Have you tried searching for the folder via Cortana?

 

Unlink an old android phone from my pc

I go thru the suggested steps: Start - Settings - Phone - Unlink this PC.

When I first open the "your phone" screen the old phone is listed. Not sure if the phone listed is suppose to be selectable or not, but my is not. When I select "Unlink this PC" the phone listed is removed. When I select "Add Phone" the old phone still
shows. I have removed the old phone from my Microsoft Account. I have rebooted after unlink this pc but I still cannot remove my old phone.
