Windows 10: Where can i find my product key if i ve had the windows already preinstalled on my computer?

My old computer got broke so I had to buy another one. The one witch I bought was os free and now when I want to activate it, is asking me for product key. Does anyone knows where I can find that product key?

How to locate windows 10 product key? my hp notepad had Windows 10 preinstalled when I purchased it (Its a legal copy). Cant find the product key listed on packaging. .. Is there a copy of the product key in my computer files? Where can I find it?

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.

If you have a new computer with preinstalled Windows 10, you can also retrieve your product key by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X.
• Click Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey in the command prompt.
• Press Enter.
