Hello, just want delete selected one old file history backup but can't..OS: Windows 10 Pro x64Version: 22H2Build: 19045.5371P. S. all provided "solution" in internet via cmd, powershellfhmanagew.exe -cleanup 0 and other methodsmanually delete folder File HistoryI've done.When do fhmanagew.exe -cleanup 0 – get error 80040301Any ideas how to get rid of this without fresh install?? thank you in advance..

File History never copies anything

Hi,

Temporary system failure is one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. To help resolve the issue, we suggest deleting the files in the USB drive. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings > Update & Security > Backup > More Options.
  
• Click Stop using this drive.
  
• Delete the File History folder on your external drive.
  
• Try again to add the USB drive to backup File History.

Using copied files from the Windows backup history

Is this Windows File backup for Windows 7 that is only included in Windows 10 and 11 to migrate files into those operating systems, and is no longer supported or recommended to use in the newer operating systems?

If so then it has no flexibility to move it's folders and have them recognized.

Windows Backup is included in WIndows 10 or 11 only to transfer files from Windows 7.

Keep in mind that files can be lost using any backup program. File History has a problem with migrating files to new PC's and can delete the whole archive because it thinks you're setting up a new backup on the new PC, so make sure to follow these steps if you do so: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-cor...

BACKUP RECOMMENDATIONS:

The safest and most reliable backup method is to sort your files into their User Folders (Documents, Desktop, Pictures, Downloads, etc) and periodically drag or copy them to external, which is otherwise kept unplugged to prevent ransomware attack. Then have a Cloud backup to capture real time file changes, and so your files are safe from ransomware, fire and theft and easily accessible via the internet just like email. Backup using file history

I was going by other advice and articles that suggest that backing up under Update and security/backup is now the way to go. I will try your suggestion.
