    Where does Windows 10 store WordPad recovery files?


    Hello,


    I had multiple WordPad documents open yesterday which were unsaved. Opened my laptop today to see that Windows 10 had automatically updated and restarted in the meantime. Now in the past Windows would restore all unsaved WordPad documents as "document recovered" after an update but this time it only restored one document and multiple blank ones.


    Question: where does Windows store/autosave WordPad documents to recover them in case of an update/crash? What file extensions do they have?


    The answer to the first question is especially valuable since I want to use data recovery software to see if I can find something but don't know where to look. Have scoured half the internet but couldn't find information regarding the location.

    If any additional infos are needed I'm happy to clarify.

    Wordpad for Windows 10

    I installed Wordpad for Windows 10. However, when I attempt to "Open" a file, my file list doesn't contain the subfolder that I need. the subfolder exists in Windows Explorer. Any suggestions?

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
