Windows 10: Where is NTLDR in Win 10?

I recently did a restore using macrium reflect, which screwed up all my drive letters and left me unable to boot NTLDR is missing.Everything on the SSD and HD was backed up to another drive so I didn't lose anything.The only recovery disc I had was 2 years old, but it enabled me to boot into W10 and offered a choice of systems to use, one being current and on two years old. Now I can boot, but only from the CD. Booting from C:\ gives a message that my computer needs to be repaired but Windows can't fix it!What do I need to do to get C:\ booting?Windows 10 22H2 19045.3086.

NTLDR Missing. Computer will not boot

NTLDR is from XP or Windows server 2003, not Windows 10.

I suggest that you may have used an inappropriate start-up disk that has written the wrong MBR for Windows 10 causing the boot error!

 

not loaded windows 10 - ntldr is missing

I am having same issue, I have created recovery disk for my windows 10. I have tried to repair start up, but it failed.

I was having dual boot system, on other partition I was having windows 8, After upgrading to Windows 10, I have formatted the Partition containing Windows 8 and now I am not able to boot.

After above suggestion, I have tried to copy ntldr from Recovery disk, but Windows 10 recovery disk doesn't contain any i386 folder and I am not able to copy ntldr.

Any suggestions?

I am totally in limbo.

When a computer is turned on, the BIOS picks an eligible, bootable hard drive and then calls code stored in the MBR at the start of that hard drive. That MBR code in turn loads the boot sector from the active partition. On Windows XP, this boot sector code
is tasked with loading NTLDR (the Windows XP bootloader) and its dependencies, which are used to load the operating system kernel and start up Windows. The NTLDR file is normally located in the root directory of the active partition on the first boot drive.
However, if the NTLDR file is not found or is corrupt, then the loading process halts and the "NTLDR is missing" error screen appears.


Wrong boot sector code is installed.


Newer version of loader called BOOTMGR, but this error can still appear if the older NTLDR-compatible master boot code is applied to the bootable partition. That is usually caused by errors made while configuring the boot loader manually.

Method2: Unplug all removable media


Since this error is often caused by BIOS trying to load from an external non-bootable drive, the user may try to unplug all external drives, and remove all removable media, such as CD/floppy disks, memory cards, and USB devices to make sure the
BIOS doesn’t try to load from any of them.

Change boot sector.

• Insert the Windows XP(or any newer version) install CD
  
• Restart the computer and boot from the CD
  
• Press any key( from keyboard) to boot from the CD
  
• Click on Repair your computer after selecting proper language, time and keyboard input.
  
• Select the Windows installation drive, which is usually C:\, and click Next
  
• Choose Command Prompt when the System Recovery Options box appears
  
• Write the following command and press s Enter afterwards:
  
  "bootcfg /rebuild"
  
• If the program finds a Windows installation and asks whether it should add it to the boot list, press Y.
  
• Remove the install CD.
  
• Restart your computer.

The system has been running fine for a few months from the upgrade of Win 7. Then one day I got the error on system boot, Missing NTLDR.

Tried Repair option, and
"bootcfg /rebuild" then down loaded Win 10 ISO tried repair with that, still did not work. ended up reinstalling windows 7 for now. when I get a new HDD I will install Win 10 again. I lost all my Email of over 2000, My Pictures and Docs. As this was
my home office PC. It just so happened a few days before my backup HDD failed. I think my hair turned whiter!
