How can I activate FSX with an Authorization Number?

Hi FS105,

That Authorization number you received from MS may have been given because at that time you couldn't activate FSX with its own Product Key or you had lost the key. That MS number would not be useful for a fresh install to a new PC; you'll need to use
the Product Number affixed on the FSX packet. If you don't have it, then maybe you could try to use that old MS number or else you will need to contact MS for it.

To get the phone number applicable for your country, you will need to go into the FSX Directory (after installing it of course) and then find the file (Phone Activation.xml) to get the number. The down-side of this is, is that the list in that file is
now so old that it may not be useful. As well, your question was pertaining to the location of the Authorization number (Activation Key) box after installing FSX. After you install Disks 1 and 2, one of the last prompts will be for activation of the product.
If you don't get this prompt, either there may not be a need for further activation (as some of us experience when re-installing FSX a number of times on the same computer), or there is a glitch in the activation process.

The two ways to tell if FSX is activated is: 1. after taking a flight, FSX stops working after about thirty minutes then it is not activated, and 2. open up a flight (i.e. to the point when you are seated in a cockpit) and press Alt to open up
the top Menu bar. Then go to Help and then to About Microsoft Flight Simulator. At the bottom there should be a Product ID. If it is there then this indicates that your FSX is activated.

FSX activation

I purchased a new computer after my other one died, including the Hard drive. On there, I had a purchased copy of FSX. I have win 10 and installed FSX, however the activation key isn't working and I need to activate it.

My phone number is correct, but my email address is incorrect. I know it says not to use it, but I will anyway.

FSX activation error

Hello! I am an Independent Advisor, I would love to help you out!

The first steps I would try are:

1) Locate the entry below by regedit.exe

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS

\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

2) Look at UpperFilters key. It should contain “PartMgr” only.

3) If the key shows something more, mark down what they are

before editing the key to read “PartMgr” only.

4) Start FSX, the activation dialog should be prompted.

5) Proceed and let FSX start, then exit FSX.

6) Edit back the registry key with the previous content. (This step may not be required.)

If that does not work then I would suggest to restart your computer and try again. If that does not work then I would suggest to uninstall and re-install completely.
