Where new content is saved : how can I choose a subfolder?

Hello, I want my personal documents to go on the D: drive, but I don't like that the user folder is created at the root of the drive. I want it to be inside a "User" folder. So Windows creates on its own a folder called : d:\UsernameBut I would prefer if I could choose d:\Users so then Windows would create such folder : d:\Users\UsernameHow can I do this?ThanksDS

    :)

  2. Change where new content is saved.

    Hello Martin,

We apologize for the late reply.

Windows 10 lets you easily change the default Save location for Documents, Music, Picture and Video files. For steps on how to organize your preferred setting, follow these steps:

    • Open Start Menu.
    • Click Settings, then System settings.
    • Click on Storage in the left pane.
    • Scroll down a bit and find Save locations.
    • There you will see New documents will save to setting and similar settings for Music, Pictures & Videos.
    • Select the location from the drop-down menu.

For Windows 10 Creators Update v1703, you need to navigate as follows:

    Settings > System > Storage
    > Change where new content is saved.

Tip: If you are suffering from the low space issues after upgrading, you can use these technique to move Documents and other personal folders from the default system drive to another drive.

Feel free to post back if further assistance is needed.

Move level 2 subfolder and contents to new directory tree

    Hello All,

I need to move a common level 2 subfolder and contents to a new directory tree.

At the moment my directory tree is:

    Client1

    >>Subfolder 1

    >>Subfolder 2

    >>Subfolder 3

    >>Archive

    Client 2

    >>Subfolder 1

    >>Archive

    ....etc

Due to directory size, I need to move the "Archive" folders and all contents into a new directory, creating new parent folders:

    Client 1

    >>Archive

    Client 2

    >>Archive

Any help or direction will be appreciated!!

I am familiar with the use of robocopy for backups ... but not sure if I can use this here. I think I will need to write a cmd expression for this.

    Thank you
