Windows 10: Where to download Office 2007 with product key?

Incorrect, that has never been the case with Office Software. Now you could get around the 2 unit activation, when Microsoft used the old process for activating software, before 7 came out. After 7 was released, the activation system would only allow 2 installs, which is exactly stated in the Terms of Service, since Microsoft has been able to use Windows 98 to do the Activation check with any Microsoft installed software.

The Terms state that you are only allowed one Desktop install and one Tablet or Laptop install.

 

I'm sorry but I don't think you guys know what you're talking about.

End of Life means it's no longer supported with feature updates AND security updates. For example, Office 2003 is considered EOL since it no longer receive either types of updates.

However, Office 2010 and 2007 still receive security updates, so they're not considered to be an EOL product.

I bought Office 2007 Home and Student a few years ago. On the back of the box, it says that it's a license for up to THREE computers. So, I can have it installed on up to 3 computers, which I do.

There's no such thing as "it won't activate anymore because it's old". Sorry but that's the most incorrect thing I've ever seen on this forum. Like I said before, about a month ago I installed Office 2007 from DVD on Windows 10 and it activated with no problems. Then, Windows Updates began downloading SP3 and the most recent security updates for it.

Yes I know that Mainstream support for Office 2007 and 2010 is over. I never said it wasn't over. Office 2007 and 2010 are only receiving security updates at this point. But that doesn't mean that you can never activate it again if you were to buy a DVD license. That makes no sense. Office licenses for 2007 and 2010 are not tied to a Microsoft Account, you're thinking of Office 365 (or 2013/2016).

 

There were a few editions that allowed that.

 

Movie DVDs are copy protected but most computer software DVDs aren't (except maybe games). OS DVDs are bootable so you can't just do a simple copy of the files on them to a USB thumb drive and use it, you need to make it bootable first. However, since Office disks aren't bootable, you can simply copy their files to the thumb drive, plug it in and run setup.

If you have another computer on your network with a DVD drive, you could share it over the network and then put the install disk in the drive and run the install that way. A little slower but it shouldn't be a big deal since you only need to run setup once.

You could always use an external DVD drive as well.

As far as installing older copies of Office, I recently installed Office 2003 on a Windows 10 machine and it works fine.

Why are you so dead set against creating an MS Account?

That I am trying to figure out also. Especially that once you have your computer connected to the Internet, Microsoft is going to get hardware and installed software info through BITS. Any web browsing is going to be tracked through your Gateway or your ISP. Even the so called anon VPN services. They still have to track what users are doing through their servers.

The purchase price is $0 - but the reason for MS account is to go through the store checkout..

 

You keep repeating it but that doesn't mean its true. Can you please post said info from Microsoft that states they blacklist unused keys when software reaches end of life. I find that statement very doubtful.

 

Alright, I promised I'd report back what happened.

It works!!! I simply copied EVERYTHING on the Office Home & Student 2007 DVD (I made sure I was showing "hidden files/folders") to my Kingston 8GB flash drive on my desktop PC that has a DVD drive. Here's what the USB flash drive looked like on the netbook:

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm happy to say that simply copying content from the Office DVD to a flash drive then running setup.exe works perfectly for installing Office. *Smile*Smile*Party*Smile

 

Yeah, the files can easily be copied to other media like thumb drives. I do it all the time with my MSDN ISO's. I just mount the ISO and copy the contents to a folder on a thumb drive. As mentioned earlier, it's just DMR games that won't let you do that. You may even get updates for it via Windows update. Microsoft will still update it with what ever patches are on the server. They just won't create any new patches. Juts tick the box for give me updates for other Microsoft software in the advanced settings for windows updates.

Any keys from the software that is no longer supported, if the software was never activated. It is blacklisted, to keep people from activating unsupported software.

It has been that way since XP came out.

 

You are the only one I have ever heard of that states this. I don't believe it for a minute. If true I would have a bunch of TechNet and MSDN keys that are no longer valid. But they are valid and perfectly usable. You can believe what you want but my personal opinion is that is simply not true. No point in arguing it here though.

 

Nice "I'm right, and there's no point arguing it here though" you just did. Only that you're wrong. Your TechNet/MSDN keys have a purchaser name attached to, the moment you received them. It does not matter if you ever use them. What the guy is referring to, is the physical, retail disks from shops around the world, that should be scrapped once Microsoft stops selling.

That would indicate that new activations are still available.

Anyway - all we have are posts on the internet, until someone actually tries it - and then it's really just taking their word for it when they post their results on the internet as well.

 

All I meant was, there is no point in continuing to argue it in this thread. It's off topic. He thinks he's right and I think I'm right. Happens all the time on forums. That's all.
