Where's the master recipe for "USE this Icon HERE"?

For months now I have been puttzing with making and assigning my own icons to my Win10 folders/files/apps.etc. I've made these changes through standard win OS interface options as well as a handful of well meaning 3rd party software programs. I've ticked away at all the little mistakes one can make and have learned the basics of this customizing process.
What I can't seem to do is:
    1) Create a .dll of icons that "STICK" for multiple days. Every day I start-up I find files, folders, programs which have 'changed back' or changed completely to some other icon in the particular .dll I'm currently using as my MASTER collection.

    2) I know now to never add, replace, rename, or in any way change the basic structure of my .dll. I had to start over many times, but am coming close to a file library I'd like to KEEP.
And that means; being able to store this ONE .dll (or this one SET) of icons to be the master source for every .ico I can customize. I'd like to be able to call this .dll up (restore) at any time after a change and restore how my icons looked yesterday. Is is a particular challenge to me when Windows Insider Updates can upgrade/re-write my OS and throw DOZENS of my icons off.

    3) I think, and can only guess at this point based on how I've learned this works, that there are MANY .dlls throughout the system that Windows calls on to store/assign icons.
SO...where I MY changes being stored? I can't find a "new" .dll anywhere (or, which is the intent) find any file that reflects my daily changes. In the simplest terms, I'm looking for whatever/wherever windows stores and refers to the specific icons made and stored and assigned throug MY .dll. Where is the master recipe? All if this works is useless if I can't find a way to call up and re-assign the icons I was using yesterday.

    Make sense?
    Any ideas?
    Kevin

Windows Restore is not the answer.

    :)

    Any update?

If you're still seeing the message, please post the URLs of a recipe or two where you see it.

I can't select "Print" as the page is cut short

It is when I try to print something I have found using my search engines, such as a recipe. On the page where the recipe appears I click on "print." That used to take me to my printer. Now I get a formatting page. Unfortunately, that page has two options
at the bottom that are cut off. Neither is "print." I have tried clicking on both. If I try Control "P", the format page shimmers and nothing happens.

Where's the master recipe for "USE this Icon HERE"?

Hi, I use a program called Icon Changer that takes a library of Win 7 icons and applies it to create a copy of imageres.dll.

The program is intended to put that back in C:\Windows\System32, but doesn't - I have to do that manually.

Bottom line: those changes are stable - until I run
    sfc /scannow
    or
    there's a new build - and so a new version/copy of imageres.dll.

I also have matching manually applied icon changes for my start menu and program installation folders.
Now I do notice sometimes an odd icon change has disappeared in my start menu. But that's about all I think.
These are unaffected by build changes.

    Dalchina,
You and I have talked of this before. Creating new and replacing current icons is the whole idea of my plan. If the software you mention is intended to replace the imageres.dll file but Doesn't...I'm not sure I've made myself clear to you. Also, imageres.dll is only one of many .dll files windows uses for icons. I have successfully created a new .dll of all the icons I want to assign within the windows os and it works well enough until that moment it doesn't. I am trying to find out what is changing and to what file so I can apply MY .dll universally and at any time.
    Make sense?
