Windows 10: Which is the safe version of Nvidia MX250 driver for Acer Swift 3?

Hello fellow redditors,

If you own an Acer Swift 3 (Model: SF314-55G) and running it on Windows 10 with Intel Core i5 8265U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Nvidia MX250 GPU, could you tell me which version of Nvidia graphics driver are you using (without any issues eg. freezing, stuttering, etc.)?

I am asking this because I have been experiencing random freezing of Windows with Nvidia graphics driver version 419.72 (which comes by default with Windows update after a Reset from Windows Settings), the very dated version available on Acer India website and the latest version available on Nvidia's website.

[A little detail about the freezing issue: I am using Windows 10 Home SL v2004 (b 19041.450) and have been experiencing this issue from version 1909. It doesn't matter which program I'm running, the freezing just occurs all of a sudden and the only way out is pressing and holding the power button for a forced shutdown. Uninstalling the Nvidia graphics driver completely solves the freezing problem which in turn makes the GPU inactive and useless.]

The error code indicates, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)". We need to reinstall the device driver manually. I suggest you to refer the steps for
Code 28 mentioned in the article
Error codes in Device Manager in Windows and see if that helps.



You can try to run NVidia Auto-Detect and see if that helps you in installing the NVidia drivers. You can run NVidia Auto-Detect from
NVidia website. You can also check for the pending updates on the computer and install them. Please refer the section

If the issue persists, I suggest you to try the steps mentioned below to install the drivers:

1. Press Windows key + X and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Right click on the NVidia driver and select
   Update Driver.
   
3. Click on Browser my computer for driver software.
   
4. Now, click on Let me pick from a list.
   
5. Select the NVidia MX250 driver and click on
   Next.
   
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
   
7. Restart the computer once the driver is installed.

Driver for Nvidia GeForce MX250 provided by Windows Driver Update is left far behind the OEM latest

Hi Microsoft Team!

By today the latest Nvidia MX250 driver is in version 445.87 but Windows Driver Update provides 431.98 which is far behind. Hope you could investigate this.

I am using built in Intel UHD 620 and discrete Nvidia MX250 optimus graphic cards.

The funny thing that when i downloaded and installled new 445.87 driver via Geforce Experience, even the Geforce Experience didn't recognize that i had installed new driver.

Looking forward to your advice.

Hi,

2004 release notes say: You might have issues if you are using an Nvidia display adapter (GPU) and drivers with a version below 358.00.

Please check driver version.

And install both graphic drivers from Acer site.
