  1. Which value flags Storage Sense to set a file on-demand

Good day! Within my company storage sense was enabled in order to increase the performance of our devices and to increase disk space for updates etc. However, we notice storage sense doesn't always set files to on-demand while they haven't been accessed within the 30 days threshold we set.So my question is. Does it look to the last accessed attribute or last modified attribute? In addition, does it look to the folder were the file is located or the file itself?Example:There is a folder that was last accessed 1st of November 2023, but a file inside was last accessed somewhere in 2022. However, it

Storage Sense registry entries do not match info in win10 settings app

OK. I was incorrect. I have not tested this behaviour with all Storage Sense relevant entries, but only two. They are:

    • Delete files in my recycle bin, if they have been there over (name '256' in the registry)
    • Delete files in my Downloads folder, if they have been there over (name '512' in the registry)

Changing those two values in the registry doesn't have any impact on the value displayed in the settings app. Your examples in the tutorial do not tackle those two options. Closing and ropening the app do not have effect.

Specify when Storage Sense Automatically Make OneDrive Files On-Demand Online-only for Current User in Settings

    Hello hexaae, *Smile

Just to verify, do you have Storage Sense turned on?

When using OneDrive files on demand, any files marked as Always keep on this device will not be affected by Storage Sense. You might check to make sure they are not checked as Always keep on this device.

How to disable notification "Help Storage Sense clean more"

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are receiving notifications related to clear cloud backup of OneDrive through Storage Sense.

Ideally, if you turn on Storage Sense, Windows will automatically free up space by getting rid of files you don't need, like temporary files and items in the Recycle Bin, when you're low on disk space or at intervals you specify.

However, it will not remove the OneDrive content that is flagged as “Always keep on this device”. You can try changing the Storage Sense settings for OneDrive content.

    1. Press Windows +
      I
      keys to open Settings.
    2. Click on System and then click on
      Storage.
    3. Now click on Configure Storage Sense or run it now.
    4. Under OneDrive change the content settings to
      Never.

If you want to disable Storage Sense completely then you can toggle the switch to
Off at the top of the settings page mentioned above.

Let us know how it goes.
