Windows 10: Which Windows 10 Product Key is on my Laptop?

Recently bought a new laptop and the retailer had unfortunately installed Windows 10 Home instead of Windows 10 Pro.

They called today and assisted me with installing Windows 10 Pro by disconnecting the WiFi, type in a key for what I’m guessing was the Home Edition removal. Then connected WiFi, typed in another key which upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. Opened up notepad and pasted a copy of the key.

Went to set up my own user profile and deleted the default one which had the key in it and by that time was too late.

Opened up CMD and typed in the command “wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey”. It has given me a key but cannot remember if this is the key that got me Windows 10 Pro or if it is the key for Windows 10 Home.

Anyone tell me which edition of key it is for?

I’ve already emailed the retailer about getting me a copy of the key. I’m hoping they kept a record of it.

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

 

Why was I not asked for a product key when upgrading to Win 10?

According to your spec you have Win 10 Pro, but perhaps that doesn't reflect your PC.

You haven't stated which edition of Win 10 you have on this machine, nor what your Win 10 key is for.

For example, if you already have Win 10 Pro and your key is Win 10 Home, that would be a retrograde step.

You can create a bootable USB, DVD or CD of Kyhi's recovery drive:

Boot the computer from that and it contains Superfly's Showkey Plus utility which will display any product keys stored in bios/UEFI and what version of Windows the product key is for:
