Windows 10: White screen and “Type to search” appearing and disappearing.

Hello. Some days ago, after an update, the screen of my laptop won’t work anymore. There’s a white screen and the box type here to search keeps appearing and disappearing. I can’t open an app or anything like that. Please tell me what to do.

Cortana search box - type request

Since I got a Win 10 update a few days ago, Cortana has been hard to deal with :>). She will take requests verbally but if it try to type something into her search box, as soon as I enter a letter, a white box appears as though some suggestions will be
listed (as it did before the update) and then all of a sudden it disappears and I am back to the original Cortana window. Any ideas? I did set up other admin user and Cortana will allow that user to type into the box and she will immediately start a list
of suggestions. Also I tried "method 1 and 2 that required changes to the registry.

Sorry, it did not help at all. I executed the Powershell commands, rebooted, and the search box is white.

The problem is on all my various computers, so I'm doubting it is some kind of installation problem. I think there is a bug with Cortana.

I noticed that even if I reboot and the box is initially dark, like it should be, if I click into the search box (which turns it white), it fails to go dark again after dismissing Cortana. So I think there is a bug in the code.

I am on the latest version of Windows 10 (1709).

Corrupted system files are one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. Since the steps given by its Benoy here wasn't able to resolve the issue, let's try to re-register the Cortana Components. Follow the steps below:

• Type PowerShell in the search box.
  
• Right-click Windows PowerShell, then click Run as administrator.
  
• Enter the following commands below and press Enter
  for each command:
  
  • PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
    
  • Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
