Who's NOT having issues on windows 10?

    [Rant]

Ok gang, it's nearly been a year, longer for us on the insider program...

Frankly the number of "new, first time posters" with issues just astounds me today.

So ... Let's see if we can keep this thread. Who is NOT having issues with windows 10?

I have one 7 year old laptop on the latest insider fast ring, only issue I have with it is to hide touchpad update (lose scroll), and switch back to an earlier radeon integrated graphics driver on updating the builds, as the latest driver for it wont give me my native resolution needed.

1 gaming rig at home with latest retail build, two other mainstream desktops with the latest retail build, and 4 other laptops also on the retail builds.

All were upgraded with no issues. My gaming rig did die after two weeks of it;s upgrade, but that was a MB issue, not the OS, I actually recovered that to a new MB and video card and reverted back to 7, then upgraded it AGAIN to 10 whereupon it activated.

    All are running great.

    Who's next?

    [/rant]

    :)

WHO TO TRUST FOR PC ISSUES?

    ALL THESE MESSAGES ARE BOGUS.

Ignore them. Critical driver updates are distributed via Microsoft update otherwise the only drivers you should ever consider are from the manufacturer. If a laptop or branded computer then from them otherwise from the component manufacturer for individual
    devices.

In most cases these messages are generated by web page addons which do not actually know if there are problems or not. Download and run (it does not install) AdwCleaner. Scan then Clean the computer to remove any
Potentially Unwanted Program. Check Control Panel, Programs and Features for any recently installed program that is unexpected.

  3. WHO TO TRUST FOR PC ISSUES?

These all softwares which claim driver updates are all fakes.

Registry cleaners are also not recommended by us.

The best way to download drivers is through manufacturer's website or through windows update.

    Hope that helps.

Who's NOT having issues on windows 10?

Ok.. I'll have at this one.

First off I think that all of us involved in the insider program have encountered some bugs and glitches. And that's to be expected with beta software and especially OS beta software. Now having said that I think that my experience with the insider program has been rather good and the bugs/glitches have not be deal breakers or made me want to drop out. As for the edition that went out to the mass public the number of bugs is far less and the OS is extremely stable. This is from personal experience.

I honestly don't think that it's anymore than any other version of Windows.. Vista.. 7..8/8.1. I have been involved with these forums from 7 on and the amount of issues seems to be about the same rate/amount.

Just my 2c.. everyone's millage will vary.

  5. I ran Windows 10 for a while, pretty much since the insider builds were available. I never really had issues with it. It was always very stable for me. I switched over to Kubuntu Linux only because I liked the way it worked and what it offered built in and for free to add on more than I did Windows.

Well, when MS starts asking for $ in July, then our year long beta testing will be over (I hope!).
But to be fair, I did have major issues on two boxes, so I'm interested now to see how many
    did not have anything....interesting thread.

Who's NOT having issues on windows 10?

I'm not having any big issues. With any new Operating System there's bound to be some problems but mostly with older programs. Some of the problems occur with the change from 32-bit OS to 64-bit OS and having the proper drivers. I have the released Win10 on 2 production Desktops, 1 Insider Preview Desktop, 2 production Notebooks and several "standby" machines. I just installed Win7 clean on Saturday on an older Dell Optiplex 755 then got it Upgraded to Win10 Upgrade on Monday, only problem with it is no drivers for the Serial COMM and Parallel ports but they are not much in use anymore. I also use a 15" MacBook Pro with El Capitan and have a Desktop and a Notebook running Linux Mint 17.3. I've done more than a couple dozen Upgrades for others and half a dozen new setups without much trouble.

I have been in the insider program for about 1½ years now, and no major deal breakers. The over all trend is that Windows 10 is getting better all the time.

I have two older PC (7 years old) one ran fine with windows 10, the other has wifi problem signing in. I have dual boot on both with Linux Mint 17.3 for the last few weeks, will run windows 10 way after the anniversary update. Have a macbook pro too. Would stay away from windows 10 for a while.

3 desktops, 4 laptops, 1 netbook, 2 Windows tablets, and 1 stick computer at my house all running Windows 10 - everything from 32-bit Home version to 64-bit Pro running on a mixed Ethernet/WiFi network with 1 router, 2 hubs and 1 range extender, 2 network printers and a NAS. No problems at all at my house. 2 of the desktops are home built computers.

When people say Windows 10 was not ready to release, I think, "Maybe you just weren't ready for Windows 10".

I have several desktops and 1 laptop that dates from about 10-12 years ago, all running versions of Windows 10. This computer is running 2 versions as well as 3 other versions in VMs. I have not had a serious problem with any of them.

    I think your statement of
may be at least partially explained by the fact that we are a help forum. People, for the most part, come here to resolve problems they are having. The majority of people without problems don't come here just to post that their installation is running very well. So, most posts are problems encountered. Regardless of how many machines you believe have been upgraded to Windows 10, I think the problems we see are rather small in comparison.

And another thing that really bugs me is when people blame Microsoft for their hardware not working. It's not Microsoft's responsibility to make the billions of combinations of hundreds of thousands different hardware pieces work together. It is the hardware manufacturer's responsibility to write drivers that work. It's like blaming Ford when your Bridgestone tire blows out because the tire had a bad spot in it.

You mean when you run off the internet highway and your tire blows? *Smile

Totally spot on ... It's amazing that it DOES work 99% of the time with all the various combinations of HW already out there.

I hate dick moves by HW vendors. Logitech did it going from XP to 7, even HP, model equipment bought within a month of launch, to find they were not going to release drivers for supposedly top of the line gear, to force you to re-purchase compatible gear is unsat, plain and simple.
