Windows 10: Why, after overwritting the OS, installing Windows 10 doesn't require activation key?

I've overwritten my laptop's original operating system, Windows 10, with Linux, then overwritten it again with Windows 10. However, due to download speed, I downloaded the Windows 10 disc image from www.getmyos.com. When I install it, it doesn't ask for an activation key.My laptop is manufactured by Samsung. Does that mean the Windows installer detects my activation key based on the device?

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

windows 10 can also activate solely based on HWID no key required how do you think the microsoft store activation works it installs a generic key and activates based on hwid

 

Activation of Windows 10 Pro doesn´t work

Hallo, i can´t activate my windows 10 Pro (free upgrade from windows 7);

Manual activation doesn´t work either.

Important (i think): I had to re-install windows 10 (3 or even 4 times). because I had massive problems with "Start and Cortana Issues".

I hope, I don´t have to search the old product key.

PS. Yes, Windows 7 was genuine.
