Windows 10: Why am I experiencing problems downloading software from Microsoft store?

Whenever I am trying to download software from the Microsoft store, I get the following error messsage: Try that again Something hapenned on our end. Waiting a bit might helpafter applying all OS patches. The problem still persists. Levono did a complete refresh of the OS and replaced the SSD drive and I still get the same error message. Lenovo indicated that this is a Microsoft problem and I need to circle back to Microsoft where I started on March 4 service request 1050707331. Can someone please help without access to the Microsoft store, the machine is useless as I am not able to even downl

Microsoft Introduces Online Store for the U.S.

Redmond-based Microsoft has quietly launched an online store today. It's real and comes without a big advertising campaign all over the world. Simply named Microsoft Store and previously available only in the UK, Germany and Korea, now the store invites all U.S. citizens to buy Microsoft products online too. The store has just started, and it offers an extended line-up of software and hardware products under the Microsoft brand. When it comes to software purchase, the store allows to either order the software and have it delivered to your doorstep, or directly download it after the moment of payment. Users who decide to take the digital download way will be permitted to re-download the product until the mainstream support for it end. Typically this is 5 years after the product is released. Also, you always have the option of copying the downloaded products to physical media if you want to have them available for as long as you need. The original product keys for all the digital downloaded software will be stored in your personal Microsoft Store Account alongside your purchase history so you can use it to re-install your software at any time. Nothing ever downloads and installs on Microsoft Store.

Uninstall third-party firewall and antivirus software.

Completely Uninstall Avast software using aswClear.exe:

1. Download aswClear.exe on to your desktop
2. Start Windows in Safe Mode
3. Open (execute) the uninstall utility
4. If you installed avast! in a different folder than the default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
5. Click REMOVE
6. Restart your computer

Reset Windows Firewall to find out if the problem resolves.


Sometimes you might be able to fix the problem with Windows Store simply by resetting Windows Update services. Open the Command Prompt by typing cmd.exe into Start Menu, right-click on Cmd.exe, and open it as an administrator.

1. When Command Prompt starts, run the following commands:
   • net stop wuauserv
   • net stop bits
   • rename c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
   • net start wuauserv
   • net start bits

After doing that, try to start Windows Store again and check if the problem with Windows Store games is still there.




To reset the Microsoft Store app in Windows 10, do the following.

• Open Settings.
• Go to Apps -> Apps & features.
• On the right side, look for Microsoft Store and click it.
• The advanced options link will appear. Click it.
• On the next page, click on the Reset button to reset Microsoft Store to default settings.

Run the troubleshooter: Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.


Install the latest updates.


Log out of Microsoft Store, according to users, if you’re having issues while downloading Microsoft Store games, you might want to try logging out and logging back in.


Start Microsoft Store.
Click the user icon in the top right corner and select your account.

Click the Sign out button.

Select the user icon and choose Sign in from the menu.
Can't install apps from Windows Store
Select your account from the list and click Continue.
Windows Store stuck on downloading
Enter your password and you’ll be signed in to Microsoft Store again.

After making these changes, check if the problem with Windows Store games is resolved.



If nothing works create new user account to check problem resolves.

• Are you logging in using Microsoft Account credentials?
• Are you the administrator of the user profile?

Step 1: Apps from Windows Store can be downloaded when you are signing into your user account using Microsoft account. If you are not signing in using Microsoft account, you will be able to access Windows Store, but you cannot download any
apps from Windows Store.



If you already have a Microsoft account, sign in and check if you are able to download the apps from Windows Store.



If you do not have a Microsoft account, create one by signing up
and check if you are able to download the apps from the Windows Store.



Step 2: If the issue persist, I suggest you to run the
Windows apps troubleshooterand check if the issue is resolved



In many cases, the Windows Store will automatically notify you if there’s a problem with an app and try to fix the problem. If you continue experiencing problems with an app, this tool can automatically identify and fix some problems with apps and the Store.
