Why am I no longer able to see data on external disk after selecting ; properties, customize , optimize this folder?I can see the data on a unix machine. The properties indicate there is 466 GB of data on the 1TB drive. However when I click on the drive, I get "This folder is empty". When I go to command line, type 'dir": D:\>dir Volume in drive D is img1TB Volume Serial Number is 6808-04EF Directory of D:\ File Not Found

How to recover data from corrupted WD external hardisk

Hi...

I have Western Digital Passport 1 TB external Hard disk. It has got corrupted. When I connect to my Window 7 machine, my external hard disk rotates but my machine does not recognize it.I have checked External hard disk with other working cable as well but still it is not working . I have tried to recover data with Hiren boot cd ,. On hiren boot machine it is recognizing the disk. I can copy some data in form of dd format with data rescue but not able to recover data with this DD format file. I have used different softwares to recover dd file but all are giving error. Please suggest how can i recover my data.

 

Disk management options greyed out for external drive

As @dalchina mentioned, the drive is a UEFI-GPT system drive. If you don't use it anymore as a boot able drive I suggest you make a backup of the data on it and then clean and initialize it with Diskpart. ALL DATA ON IT WILL BE DELETED Open a CMD window as administrator and type: diskpart list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the USB drive number-Should be 2) select disk n (replace n by the USB drive number obtained with list disk) clean create part primary select part 1 format fs=ntfs quick assign exit (to exit diskpart)

 

Help! Data partition not showing under my computer

This is happening on a windows 2000 server. Our second partition of the system, for data is not showing under my computer. Here are the properties of it in disk management:





Now under logical drives its listed as F and shows free space available.

Suggestions on how to fix this?
