Windows 10: Why am I not able to log into my Microsoft Account in the Microsoft store?

When I press the little person in the corner, it gives me the option to sign in. I'll press it, and a little grey box appears, but it disappears in a second or two. This happens every time I press it and I am unsure of what to do. This started happening right after I installed Windows 11. I've tried restarting, but the issue persists.

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store

Your PIN is tied to your account in Windows 10. It'll remain with that account whether you switch to a local or Microsoft account.

The outlook.com account is your Microsoft account.

The listed "Microsoft account" item is used to be able to sign in with a new Microsoft account, and have it added to the list.

Yes. When you sign in to the Store with a Microsoft account like in step 5 in Option Two of the tutorial below instead of switching to a Microsoft account you will and stay a local account.
