  1. Why am I not offered X64 on installing Windows 10?

Hi. I am trying to upgrade an existing old machine from Win10 32bit to 64bit. It does what we need it to and only runs into problems with memory being capped at 4GB. The upgrade to 64bit is to get over that limitation. The motherboard is old, an Asus P7P55D, but this does support 64 bit OS and others report it running reasonably well with Win 10 x64 on it. I do realise this is not just an upgrade, it is a complete clean install so I know it completely wipes the old version and all data too. Data is taken care of and backed up ready to go.

I have already overcome a bevvy of problems with the installation. It won't boot from memory sticks despite the Boot order being correct. That may be due to memory stick limits as I am having to use a 256GB stick in USB 3.0. I've tried going direct to the stick from Media Creation Tool and also from Rufus but no joy either way. I have burnt an ISO DVD and at first it would not respond to the keyboard press confirming 'Boot from DVD'. Eventually a simple USB/PS4 convertor cured that. Now I have the machine booting from DVD but it gets as far as the version selection and all it offers are x86 options.

On downloading the installer I definitely selected X64 only in Media Creator Tool, the download was doene on an up to date X64 bit machine anyway so selecting 32bit by accident shouldn't happen. A DSIM query of the file shows that all versions are there with file sizes of around 15GB. This is higher than I have previously seen, around 10GB, but I am assuming this shows that both the 32bit and 64bit versions of each are present.

Am I trying to fly without wings here? Or is there perhaps an older version available which would install? Any advice is welcome.

    :)

  2. Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

    Windows 7 x64 not detecting GTX295

    Background
I installed the 295 and it was not detected. So I downloaded 181.22 for Vista x64, but those drivers didn't work for gaming (CTD). So I installed a GTX 8800 and it was detected and drivers installed automatically from Windows Update.

Now I put the 295 back in, and it installed and was able to run games. However, the nVidia control panel was not available, suggesting that the drivers hadn't installed properly... So I deleted the drivers and rebooted. And... again it lists my 295 as a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and a "3D Video Controler", but no drivers can be found by Windows Update.

    Question
    1) Is there anywhere I can download the Windows 7 x64 drivers and install them manually?

    2) Any idea how I can get Windows 7 to recognize my GTX295 so that it can download the proper drivers.

    3) Have you had the GTX295 install automatically in Windows 7 x64?
