Windows 10: Why am I suddenly being asked to login to my computer with my local account password, when...

I set my computer Windows 11 up to login with a PIN when I got the device 7 months ago. It has consistently asked for my PIN every time since. Yesterday, in the middle of my workday, approximately 15 minutes after I last logged in with PIN, I woke the screen up and went to put in my PIN only to realize it now had a box for a password, no mention of a PIN in sight. I made no changes to settings and, to my knowledge, no updates were installed in that brief timeframe.No password I have saved anywhere can now get me into my computer. It doesn't seem to be asking for my Microsoft account pass

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.

Forgot Local Password

  Login in to your Microsoft account.

  Press Windows logo key + X key.
  
• 
  Select Computer Management.
  
• 
  Click on Local user and group.
  
• 
  In the right window pane, double click on user’s folder.
  
• 
  Right click on local user account and select set password and follow the on screen instructions.

Suddenly Windows 10 asked for Password

This morning I got a call from my friend. I built his computer. In the past, he used a local account without password. That is the thing he asked for and he likes to use the computer in this way. But This morning, suddenly, Windows 10 went to the login screen and asked him to set a password unless it won't allow him to login. I am worried that this is caused by a virus. Has anyone seen this happen before? Thanks!
