Weird desktop icon behaviour on Steam

Yes, they are; however, when I right click on the "blue sphere" icon to change it and browse to the corresponding folder inside the Steam folder, it lets me go through all the steps, but the blue sphere remains. *Confused

I have a folder on my desktop where I store direct links (desktop icons) to all my Steam games. This proves useful on those rare occassions when Steam doesn't launch when I turn the computer on as double clicking on these icons usually sorts things out. Recently, I have noticed that three of my icons have changed to blue spheres (Machinarium, Osmos and Galcon Fusion). When I try to create a new desktop icon by right clicking on the corresponding game in the Steam library, I simply get a new blue sphere. The spheres work as links, but does anybody know what the hell is going on here and how to recover the original desktop icons?

 

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
