Windows 10: Why are game inputs activating windows shortcuts? I have game mode enabled

like when I press ctrl in a game the windows 11 menu opens up instead of doing the in game action it’s supposed to do

Game Mode is automatically enabled to some games only. There are some games that require you to manually enable Game Mode before you can use this feature on your Windows 10 device.

To manually turn on Game Mode, you can follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard + G.
• Select Settings.
• In the General tab, select the check box for Game Mode.

Game mode activates Despite being disabled

I understand you're having trouble with Game Mode in Windows. If it's still activating despite being turned off in Settings and even after modifying the registry, it's possible that the issue could be caused by another setting or by the game itself. Here are a few steps you can try:

1. Turn Off Game Mode in Xbox Game Bar: Press Windows key + G to open the Xbox Game Bar. Go to Settings (the gear icon) and see if there's an option to turn off Game Mode there.
   
2. Check Game Settings: Some games have an option to enable Game Mode from within their own settings. Check the settings for the game you're playing to see if such an option exists.
   
3. Update Graphics Card Drivers: Sometimes, issues with Game Mode can be caused by outdated or incompatible graphics drivers. Visit the manufacturer's website of your graphics card to find the latest drivers.
   
4. Disable Full Screen Optimizations: Right-click on the game's .exe file and select Properties. Under the Compatibility tab, check the box that says "Disable fullscreen optimizations", then click Apply and OK.

Windows Update 1709, Computer running slower and screen stuttering/fps drop in games on fullscreen.

Have you tried enabling Game Mode? if not, we suggest that you enable it and check the results. Here are the steps:

Enable/Disable Game mode by default:

• Open the Settings menu.
• Click on Gaming
• Choose Game Mode
• Toggle Use Game Mode

Enable Game Mode on a per-game basis:

• While inside your game, press Windows key + G to open the
  Game Bar.
• This will release you cursor and enable you to click on the cogwheel.
• Select Enable Game Mode.

If the issue persist, go to the
Microsoft Update Catalog to search and download the Windows 10 Version 1703 ISO file. Afterwards, use the
Media Creation tool to create an installation image using the version of Windows that you downloaded.

Note: Once you have installed Windows 10 Version 1703, we suggest that you setup a metered connection so that you will not be updated to Windows 10 Version 1709.
