Windows 10: Why are ms solitaire ads so dang loud, and unmuteable to boot?!

It's bad enough that there are ads before some games, on solitaire of all things, but the fact that they're filled to bursting with bright flashing lights and sudden extremely loud noises? You do realize that your target demographic is old people, right? Not like the younger people would appreciate this either, but still. The only feedback I've found is simply to mute the app. Well, I've done that in the volume mixer AND sound settings, and I still nearly get a heart attack every time I try to play a game of solitaire!! Are the people in charge just banking on the fact that most people who voluntarily play ms solitaire are technologically illiterate or something? This is just plain rude. I want a REAL solution. If I mute an app, I should dang well be able to expect it to be silent!

TL;DR: How can I reliably mute ms solitaire? I am angry.

MS Solitaire

Solitaire opens but reports an error code 404017. This seems not to be listed in the error codes that I can find. Any suggestions?

In general, the microphone is on mute. We'd like to clarify following steps that you've done and ask you a few questions:

• When you unmute the microphone, is it via Recording tab under
  Recording devices?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Are there any newly installed applications that may have caused this?
• Is this an on going issue or recent?
