  1. Why are my files not syncing with dropbox

Ever since I went to windows 11 my files are not syncing with dropbox. When I save them or create new folders using file manager the files/folders are read only. I have tried to unclick read only but it keeps coming back on. I uninstalled windows 11 thinking that was the problem but it hasn't helped. I have tried to add a Users with full access as per another post but it still reverts back to read only. The files in the folder that I can see on dropbox through the browser do not have read only attached.

    :)

  2. Dropbox Sync Issue

Hi, I had installed dropbox on my laptop and it had been syncing my folders correctly. But ever since I went home and came back, it's been not synchronizing anything that I change in the folder, and I didn't know what to do. I checked my firewall settings, disabled it, went to dropbox unlinked and relinked my laptop, reinstalled dropbox multiple times, even created a different account on my other email address but it still didn't work. It was still not syncing the folder at all. So I went to my program files folder and it's been recording this error consistently one after the other:

    Python WNDPROC handler failed
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "arch\win32\tray_icon.pyc", line 200, in on_timer
    File "arch\win32\tray_icon.pyc", line 300, in show_menu
pywintypes.error: (0, 'SetForegroundWindow', 'No error message is available')

So I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me fix my dropbox. Thanks!

  3. Grey x on dropbox files

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The issue you're experiencing with Dropbox files appearing with a grey X and the error code '0x80070780: The files cannot be accessed by the system' suggests that there may be a problem with file permissions or syncing on your Windows 10 system. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

    1. Restart Dropbox: First, try restarting the Dropbox application on your Windows 10 computer. Right-click on the Dropbox icon in the system tray (near the clock) and select "Exit" or "Quit." Then relaunch Dropbox from your Start menu or desktop shortcut.
    2. Check File Permissions: Ensure that you have appropriate permissions to access and open the files in question. Right-click on one of the affected files, select "Properties," and navigate to the "Security" tab. Make sure your user account has permission to read and modify the file.
    3. Reinstall Dropbox: If restarting doesn't help, consider reinstalling Dropbox on your Windows 10 computer:
      • Uninstall Dropbox by going to "Control Panel" > "Programs" > "Uninstall a program," selecting Dropbox, and clicking "Uninstall."
      • Download the latest version of Dropbox from their official website.
      • Install it following the prompts provided during installation.
      • Sign in to your Dropbox account when prompted.
    4. Reset File Associations: It's possible that file associations for MP3 files have become corrupted or misconfigured on your Windows 10 system, preventing them from opening properly.
      • Right-click on an MP3 file that is showing a grey X icon.
      • Select "Open With" > "Choose another app."
      • Choose an appropriate media player (e.g., Windows Media Player, VLC) from either the list of recommended apps or by browsing for it.
      • Checkmark "Always use this app to open .mp3 files."
      • Click "OK."
If none of these steps resolve the issue, I recommend reaching out to Dropbox support again for further assistance as they may have specific troubleshooting steps tailored for this particular issue.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Thank you.

    Best regards

  4. Why are my files not syncing with dropbox

Accessing files in synced folders takes forever (OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox)

    Hi all,

I´m using Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise - 10.0.19045 Build 19045 on a Latitude 5420 Laptop. I have installed 3 services for syncing files: OneDrive, iCloud an Dropbox.

For some weeks now, accessing files in those synced folders via Explorer or Total Commander takes forever (30s - some minutes):

    • I can open a synced folder without problems
    • If double-click a file,
      • for OneDrive it takes 1 min to open
      • for Dropbox it takes 30 s to open
      • for iCloud it takes > 2 min
    • If I right-click a file,
      • for OneDrive it takes 3 min to open the context menu
      • for Dropbox it takes 30 s to open the context menu
If I open the same files via the dedicated applications (e.g., Excel), it opens basically instantly. The issues occur only when using Explorer or Total Commander.

I have no such issues, when i access files/folders, that are *not* synced.

I would really appreciate any help. Thank you!
