Windows 10: Why are photo thumbnails not showing in Win11 File Explorer

I am gradually getting all my files transferred from my old HP850 Win7 laptop to new HPSpectre16 Win 11 laptop.I know that I have duplicate photo files and folders and was going to start sorting these this weekend.However, in File Explorer, for some unknown reason, when I access a folder the contents are not shown as thumbnails in View / S M L or XL modes.This has changed over the last few days as the thumbnail view facility was functioning perfectly - 1/1/2023 update glitch ??I have accessed the 'triple dot' /Options / Folder Options / View menu - 'Display file icon on thumbnails' is uncheck

Many thanks for you reply. I have done all the steps you suggested, but no change,

When I open a folder containing photos, some open correctly but the vast majority open with thumbnails, but they very quickly get overwritten and you can not longer see the thumbnails.

Are there any more suggestions?

Hi there chaps.

I have this problem with File Explorer. I have checked the box "Always show icons, never thumbnails"



But not all of the thumbnails are showing. I get a mixture of the "mountain" icon as well as some thumbnails.



I have tried to delete the thumbnail cache and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do? Any help would be appreciated.

File Explorer will only show icons on some photos, and thumbnails on others.

In certain folders, some photos will only show as icons, when I'd like all of them to show as thumbnails. I have tried all the standard stuff; deselecting "always show icons, never thumbnails" in File Explorer, clearing thumbnails from C drive, etc. My job is very difficult to do when I can't see all the thumbnails at once. Moreover, when I edit a photo, it will completely erase itself from the list, yet I can still navigate to it when I open another photo and use the arrow keys. Please help!
