Windows 10: Why are so many threads locked when no solution was posted, and hundreds of people have the...

Over and over I have an issue with Windows or MS Office apps. The only resource is answers.microsoft.com. Quite often, there is an exchange of questions and answers, where the person answering doesn't get the question, the OP responds with more info, and then ... nothing, and the thread is locked.


Is anyone from Microsoft curating these forums, or just hoping someone will jump in with some free support, and then if that doesn't' happen locks the thread, "another problem solved!"


Why does MS not support their own products, and leave to third party sources to supply answers? Eg.,

The problem with a lot of third party forums is the data is often quite old, and doesn't apply to version of software you have.


Same thing with the microsoft forums, many times to answers or instructions don't work, there does not seem to be a good way to filter for your specific OS or app versions.


So really the underlying question is: why are Microsoft customers left to "ask the community" for help with software they have paid for? Why is Microsoft not responding to question about the software they have sold us, the users? With useful solutions?

how to import people from Outlook.com to windows 10

Problem:
· Had to restore computer to factory settings...lost everything. Found people at Outlook.com. Reinstalled Windows 10. Somehow that listing showed up in my computer's Windows 10 "people" app. But when start to list address nothing comes up automatically like before even thought the name I'm typing is in the People listing. Tried finding something like "Auto enter addresses" in settings, but see nothing. Any suggestions? I'd like to use my hundreds of people listed without having to look up and physically enter each one when I want to use it.

Suggested Solution:
Open the "People" app and in the bottom left corner, click the gear icon
Note the account name it is associated with
Open the "Mail" app and confirm that under "Accounts" it is using the same




Resolution attempt:
Opened people app, clicked on settings gear... two accounts listed Gmail & Cox (my isp), but not Outlook, which is one of the 3 mail accounts that are linked in my Windows 10 mail account. Tried to add an outlook account to people app using my email address and outlook password and tells me "account already exists". Still have to manually input any addresses. thoughts? Would "link profiles" or "share contact" options on individual listings help? thx

BTW ... the scores ranking is placed in this thread via periodic new posts. sort of different than other bench threads, where the scores are usually the very first post in the thread and updates are simply always made to that first post.

as stated above, PT is the owner of the thread and he updates at minimum, once a day if not more.

you can step back through this thread to see the last scores listing ... a day or two ago.

I've looked to a thread about restore points of some years ago and it was locked but there where 18 people with the same problem.

Can I unlock it?
