  1. why are some of the details encoded in a device's property page such as:...

If I go to Device Mgr, choose a device, and open its Properties, then choose the Details tab, and click in the property box to see the drop down menu items, there are usually quite a few of the items that appear to be encoded where they cannot be read. Clicking on one of them will cause the answer to pop up, but that does not help if you can't read the question. For example, clicking on {6a3433f4-5626-40e8-a9b9-dbd9ecd2884b}[20] could respond with "False" or "00000" and the 20 at the end of the line means there are at least 20 of the items in the list that are encoded so it is frustrating n

  2. MP3 file property details

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern, as you are looking for an option to edit the Metadata of the mp3 files. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    • What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
      winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • Were you able to make the changes in metadata with other details?
Please provide a screenshot, when you are trying to edit the metadata.
Please follow the steps mentioned in the
    screenshot
posted by Shawn ‘Cmdr’ Keene on Oct 2, 2015 to post the screenshots.) Do not share any personal information in the screenshots.

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

    1. Press Windows + E to open File Explorer.
    2. Browse the location of the songs you want to edit.
    3. Right-click a song, and select
      Properties. Click the Details tab.
    4. Everything you see in the "Details" tab is part of the metadata information, and you can quickly edit most of it by clicking the value field next to the property. Some of the information that you can update
includes song title (not the file name), album name, artist, genre, publisher, mood, and much more.
    5. After updating the metadata information, click the
      Apply button.
    6. Click the Ok button.

However, you can also check in Microsoft Store, Apps for MP3 metadata editors and use the one that is suitable for you.

    Regards,

    Hi Anthony,

You may be getting the error because the program is not compatible with your current operating system. We suggest checking if there will be a difference if you run the software in compatibility with the Windows version it is suited to. Follow these steps:

    • Right-click on the icon for Expression Encoder 4.
    • Choose Properties.
    • Go to the Compatibility tab.
    • Under Compatibility mode, check the box where it says

    • Click Apply then OK.

why are some of the details encoded in a device's property page such as:...

    Device Manager Properties and Details

Where does the device manager pull device information to populate the device properties? (ie. COM PORT Properties>Details>Parent>"Value")

And is this accessible using powershell or command line?

I am trying to map where a device will be connected on varying usb hub topologies. I can use devcon and read the registry to find the hwid and such but am not finding an accessible means to locate the port chain or parent id via command line.

    Thanks!
