Windows 10: Why are there random apps that open every time I turn on my laptop.

Every time I turn on my laptop, there is sometimes apps or tabs open that I don not remember using or opening. I don't know if this is a software issue or I have been hacked. Please help.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Can I customize the list of suggest apps in the "Open with" menu?

Thanks.. no problem. Almost seems that no one develops small utilities like that now.. yet being able to modify aspects of the context menu, particularly 'New' and 'Open With' can be useful.

Tried adding a random bat file to Open With list for png.. got as far as




I didn't actually confirm that and check it appeared in Open With though.

(Assuming you were referring to Open With of course).
