Windows 10: Why are Windows 11 dll icon libraries different on different computers?

I have 2 laptops running Windows 11 Pro. Both have all of their updates. When I go to the shell32.dll or imageres.dll icon libraries, one laptop shows the media icons Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos as folders and the other does not. Why is this? Thank you.

Different Library Icons In Explorer Navigation Panel?


I'm wondering why there is seemingly many versions of library icons in the navigation panel of windows explorer, 2 of my computers use different explorer icons and I cannot change them in any way.
PC breaking problem, I know, but I'm curious, can I change them without some registry-touching tool, and what defines the icon they get? All of my computers are windows 8.1 upgrades, so confused why they would get different icon images. Is it a Home vs. Pro thing or...?
I'm talking about the different thumbnails in the navigation panel for Documents, Downloads, etc., Even ThisPC, Network, OneDrive, they all have a different looking icon than the other windows Explorers I see, both fully updated Windows 10.
The libraries in the first one's panel are in folders, and the Network and This PC icons face at an angle.
The libraries in the second panel have dedicated icons, and the ThisPC and Network,etc. are all 2D perspective icons facing forward.
It's baffled me since I upgraded, kinda want to know why this is, Thanks to all that post!

Different icons on Different desktops

Hi all,

Just wondering (as i just got a new laptop with Windows 11) if i can install different icon shortcuts in different desktops.

It appears each new desktop clones the icons from the last.

It would be good to switch to a different desktop and see different icons altogether for what the desktops are for.

Any one know if this is possible?

dll library

.dll is the extension for drivers. Technically it stands for "Dynamic Link Library" (which means that saying dll library is like saying dynamic link library library) and it is pretty much synonymous with the .exe (or executable) extension.

I would suggest you uninstall Malwarebytes and try running Windows Defender Antivirus (and Antimalware, btw) again.

Malwarebytes tends to come with a trial subscription that will shut Defender off by default.
