Windows 10: Why can I not access any files over network without using SMB v1.0

Discus and support Why can I not access any files over network without using SMB v1.0 in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; Not a fan of asking questions here because I always seem to get cut-and-paste canned answers.     Why can I not access any files over network without using SMB v1.0


    Not a fan of asking questions here because I always seem to get cut-and-paste canned answers. Can anyone explain why unless I have manually activated SMB v1.0 protocol on my Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems that I'm unable to access ANY computer on my network? Firewall is off, all the necessary services are running. No other firewall is running.

    SMB v1

    Hi Joe

    If you are using an up to date version of Windows 10, this should work for you . . .

    Open the old control Panel (click your Start Button, then just type control and hit Enter)

    Go to Programs and Features

    On the left, choose 'Turn Windows Features on or off'

    Then in the resulting list, you can turn SMB v1 on . . .

    Restart your PC . . .
