Windows 10: Why can my 14 year old Leave my Family Account?

Despite it saying that only adults can leave a family account my 14 year old's Microsoft account clearly has the menu option stating; Leave Family. When this is clicked it then provides the options to continue or not.

I want this removed as it circumvents me trying to remove access so he visits the real world!

Web Blocking for an 8 Year Old

Your suggestions have not solved my problem yet. But, I first have a more basic problem.

I went to the suggested site and then set up an account for my 8 year old son and signed him up for an email account as a family member. I received an email welcoming him to the family and he shows up in my family list. I turned on the age appropriate
restrictions and listed cnn.com to block. when I go to his account, there are no restrictions at all. I can get to cnn.com and I can go to sites about **** for teens. What am I doing wrong? Is thee a setting I am missing?

 

Leave a family owned by old account with no access

My son's Microsoft account is a child account. He was added as a family member to an account of ours that was using an email address we never used...a "live.com" address. Now, we can no longer access that account because the password doesn't work, and
in order to reset the password, they want to send a code to another email address we cancelled over a year ago.

When I sign in to his Microsoft account and click on Family, it no longer shows that live.com account as part of his family. There are two icons: one with his name beside it, and one with nothing beside it. I thought maybe at some point I had managed to
delete the old account. But when I logged in myself and tried to add him to my family, it told me that he would need to leave his other family first.

I have talked to support off and on for over a year about this, and now I can't find any way of contacting them...no phone number, no chat, nothing. Very frustrating.

I need to get him added to my family so that his xBox account will work like it is supposed to. All of my other children are in the right family, but he can no longer see friend requests and stuff because the settings are wrong. And I can't change the
settings since he isn't in my family. And I don't want to simply delete his account and start all over because he will lose his game data as well as games he has purchased online through his account.

How can I fix this?

Why not set up an admin account with documented password, add it to the family group? Then you can take your account out, and still have (or leave) an admin/family group access account available. Just a thought/suggestion...
