  1. Why can't diskpart recognize my new SSD?

Came originally with my new laptop and even on cmd chkdsk command it says this..The type of the file system is NTFSCannot lock current drive.Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected. It already has windows 11 pre installed and I can neither locate my drives to install nor to format them.I have to switch to windows 10 for gaming reasons and win11 always fail me at those.

    :)

  2. Cannot install Windows on new NVMe SSD

Thanks for replying quickly, I understand what you are trying to say but the problem is that the SSD is not shown in the list in Diskpart, but when I type "select disk 3" and after that "list partition" I can recognize that it is indeed that SSD which I'm trying to format.

When I type clean the message appears saying: "DiskPart has encountered an error: A device which does not exist was specified. See the System Event Log for more information."

    diskpart doesn't show disk

    Hey,

I am trying to install Win10 on a mac book air.

However the diskpart does not list the disk even after reformatting the partition as NTFS per suggestion.

read through this solution but cannot move to step 1 listed in the solution by Ivan as that disk doesn't see that partition it was just able to reformat.

    Regards

Why can't diskpart recognize my new SSD?

New 4tb SSD shows up as 0 bytes in CMD: diskpart -> listdisk

I got a 4tb SSD to clone my 1TB SSD onto so that I have more space. I got a new SSD and a drive enclosure for the cloning, and the SSD is plugged into the enclosure and the enclosure's light is on. The drive is entirely unlisted in disk partitions app, and when I got to command line to check on it, and type diskpart and then list disk, I see only a 0 byte drive. I know it is the new drive as when I unplug/replug, the drive disappears and reappears. How do I get Windows to recognize the new drive's storage space and have it listed in disk partitions?

I have tried select disk and then clean, nothing happened.

Picture shows SSD disconnected (top) and then connected (bottom)

    I already have 1 4tb SSD (Disk 1), I am trying to add a second(Disk 2)
