  1. Why can't family member users share apps on the same Windows 10 computer?

What is the reason -- other than forcing a family to purchase applications multiple times and thereby take more $$$ off them -- for blocking different family users from sharing the same set of installed apps on the same computer?

We have multiple family Windows accounts and want to play Minecraft between a new Nintendo Switch and a high-performance gaming PC we purchased for my daughter. When another family user logs-in through their account to the PC, the Minecraft app is not visible. We have paid for it and installed it, but if we have multiple family users we have to purchase a license to that game for every user, even if only one of them will be playing at any one time?

My guess is that there's no reason for this except a grotesque profit motive, but please let me know if I've got this wrong.

    :)

  2. Sharing apps with family members in Windows 10

    Hello,

Arun, your link only provides information about setting permissions on what kids can do. It does not answer the question of can purchased apps be shared among family members. This was possible on Windows 8. On Windows 10, that does not appear to be the
case so far. If I purchase an app through the store, it does not show up in purchased apps for any of my family members. If they try to download it from the store, it appears they would be charged for it.

Is this problem going to be fixed? Or left alone until more people complain?

    Thanks,

    Brad

  3. Family members user accounts

For some reason the native photos app has got broken on my wife and sons user accounts (both standard accounts). I cannot fix it. On my own administrator account it works fine. There was a recent photos app update which I think is what screwed it up! Anyway I tested creating a test user account and the photos app works fine if a new account gets created. So I was thinking of deleting both their MS user accounts on my PC and creating them again.

But do I need to remove them as family members also via my outlook website login family tab before I recreate their user accounts again, they are both listed as family members on there and are associated with the PC name. Or can I just delete their user accounts and re-add them as family members on my PC without these shenanigans. It would save time as when you create a family member normally you have to then get them to login to their email and accept etc.

    thanks, wayne

Why can't family member users share apps on the same Windows 10 computer?

Unable to add or create family member or non family member account in Windows 10 Pro

    Hi,

Thank you for being a part of Windows 10.

It’s easy to share your Windows 10 PC with family members. Add family members using "Add a family member" from your PC's Settings, and they’ll be able to use that PC as well. And you're always in control. You can allow or block them from using a PC at any time.

I would suggest you to try the steps from the following link:

    Set up family features

What is a Microsoft family group?

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other issues with Windows in future.
