  1. Why can't I activate an OEM version of windows after a hard disk change?

I have swapped a hard disk with a PERFECTLY LEGITIMATE activated OEM copy of Win10 into a different machine replacing its original disk that also had a PERFECTLY LEGITIMATE activated OEM copy of Win10 working on it. I can't now activate the OEM copy of Windows 10 on the machine I've put it into.I have spoken to Microsoft support and they've told me I can't move this OEM copy to which I have a LEGITIMATE LICENCE from one machine to another so I need to buy a new copy.BOTH of these copies ARE legitimate. I've paid for them both irrespective of whether they were bought as part of a machine or no

    :)

    activate windows 7 oem key

Is there any way to activate a oem key in a win 7 wich has not been installed with the oem disk? The key is the one wich came with the computer and I installed version that matchs with it, so there wouldn't be any problem of using any other disk of win 7, but it doesn't activate.

  3. Windows activation, problem anticipation...

I bought a hard-disk to replace the faulty one in my Pentium 4 rig, which has OEM XP Home.

Now the last time I did a clean XP install I had to call MS and they gave me automated numbers to input to re-activate.

Just in case, that this time I have to speak to a human, will they be accepting to re-activate if I tell them (the truth) that I have changed the hard disk?

Or would you suggest something else? *Oh Well Why can't I activate an OEM version of windows after a hard disk change? :eek:hwell:

    Thank you.

Why can't I activate an OEM version of windows after a hard disk change?

    activate windows 7 oem key

You cannot activate a retail version of Windows with an OEM key.
The retail version should have it's own activation key.
If you just borrowed the Win DVD from someone who is using the key, that won't work with your OEM (OA) key.

pwned by newtekie. lol My bad.
It does work in Vista and 7, just not in XP.

Have you looked on the ASUS website to see if you can re-download the driver/diag disk, or at least everything you need to make one?
