Windows 10: Why cant I cant disable csm even though I have gpt on?

Ive been trying to disable CSM to turn on secure boot for a while now in order to play valorant since secure boot is required. Everytime I turn CSM off the moment I enter BIOS it automatically turns back off not allowing me to enable secure boot. How can i fix this? Or is there a way to bypass the vanguard security without turning on secure boot? Thanks!

I already have my boot options as UEFI and partition type as GPT but , when i disable CSM and enable security boot, the windows 11 is not booting and my computer still stuck.

MBR and GPT are different methods of storing info about how the hard drive is organised. MBR is the old system and GPT is the new system.

BIOS and UEFI are different systems for managing your hardware. BIOS is the old system and UEFI is the new system.

New systems use UEFI, but to support old hardware it can provide backwards compatibility with BIOS using CSM.

When you disable CSM your system basically no longer emulates BIOS. Since you installed Windows using BIOS Windows can't boot without the BIOS support. This is why you get the recommendation to convert MBR to GPT so that you can use UEFI.

Try these things first:

1. Do a BIOS update as usually it resolves this problem.

2. Check once more and clearly that your drives set to GPT partitions full OS type or not.

3. Then convert your boot options to UEFI mode and see how it goes.

4. After doing the above steps you can disable your CSM and do a restart then again go to your BIOS and enable Secure Boot.

If it didn't work then the reason is probably because you have too many partitions on the drive already. MBR only supports up to 4 partitions and you may already have 4 partitions so the utility can't create another one for the EFI. A typical Windows install will consist the Windows partition and a recovery partition or two. You can confirm this by using the "Create and format hard disk partitions" utility from the Start menu and checking if disk 0 currently has 4 partitions. If disk 0 does have 4 partitions, then you need to delete one of the partitions that's not the Windows partition or the Windows recovery partitions. You'll want to backup the data on the partition before you delete it because when you delete the partition the data will be gone.

 

UEFI + GPT + CSM-disabled = NO! Any Info For Me?

This will be hard to keep brief, but...I have an ASRock B550 Pro4, Radeon RX 6600, trying to go full UEFI mode after 10-15 years of it being the "thing", and it still causes me nothing but grief. Resize Bar requires it for example. With CSM = disabled and all my drives GPT: 1. The "BIOS"/UEFI is in 1920x1080, no problem. 2. Windows 10 install/setup goes to 800x600 (basically unusable, dialogs are off screen) and cannot be changed all the way up until I install the graphics driver. 3. Booting into Macrium via Ventoy created GPT or MBR usb (in UEFI mode, not BIOS) full of ISOs to make backups is in 800x600 only...unless... 4. I boot the exact same Macrium ISO from a burned CDROM, then it's in 1920x1080 only. And this is Windows PE, so why the @#$% can't the Windows install do this? 5. Booting a live Linux ISO from the same Ventoy created USB results in 1920x1080, no problem. 6. Installing Linux on a GPT drive puts GRUB on the wrong drive (The Windows drive's EFI partition), not the Linux drive's EFI partition, no matter how careful I am to tell it not to, which makes the the two drives dependent on each other. NO! Using CSM = enabled and MBR for everything and NONE of this happens and booting the Ventoy USB to Macrium, I can select from a full list of resolutions, not just the one grayed out. Everything is/can go to 1920x1080 and everything works as it should. But no Resize Bar.
